World Famous Ceramic Coatings Company Opens Office in Japan

The continued importance of Japan to world manufacturing is shown by the decision of Thermolon, the world leader in ceramic PTFE free coatings, to open an office in Nippori, Tokyo.

The new office, scheduled to open on the 18th March, 2009 will act as a sales point but also as a source of information on the whole PTFE / PFOA* debate.

Thermolon created and marketed the world’s first PTFE free, non-stick ceramic coating. It has enjoyed huge success on the GreenPan range of non-stick cookware, which is now on sale in 50 countries, all in less than two years from its launch.

Thermolon has continued its innovations, recently launching its new ‘Rocks’ coating. This gives 3 times the scratch and abrasion resistance of existing non-stick coatings. For the first time, this opens the opportunity for a non-stick coating to be used on applications subjected to heavy wear. Of course, it is also a PTFE free ceramic surface that, as with all Thermolon products, is safe and environmentally friendly.

Mr. Masao Murofushi will head the Thermolon office, previously he has worked in the semi-conductor supporting industries for more than 25 years as a sales and marketing executive. He is fluent in both Japanese and English.

PFOA, a persistent organic pollutant and likely human carcinogen, can be found in the blood of animals and most of the human population. Under a voluntary stewardship program of the USA's EPA, PFOA emissions and levels found in end products must be reduced to zero by the year 2015. It is currently a cause of great concern to environmental bodies and to organizations such as the WWF (World Wildlife Fund).
